Shaykh al-Albânî:
The Qur’ân and Sunnah are a few words, but they comprise one’s entire life. This example is hereby mentioned:
“All say that they have love for Laylâ, but Laylâ admits none of it.”
[Proverb]
Hasan al-Bannâ was first of all not a learned man. He was occupied with Da’wah. He saved the Muslim youth when he made them leave cafes and cinemas and the like. There are no doubts about it. Where are al-Hasan al-Bannâ’s books that indicate his knowledge? His father, ‘Abdur-Rahmân, has a couple of books that indicate his knowledge. As for his son Hasan, he only has a couple of small booklets. These small booklets constitute a methodology for his call and (they) do not indicate that he was knowledgeable at all. The one who says that he follows the Qur’ân and Sunnah according to the understanding of Hasan al-Bannâ has turned a blind eye and has submitted to the desires of Hizbiyyah.
