Salafi-Ikhwaani, Ikhwaani-Salafi? Salafi Aqidah, Ikhwaani Manhaj? by The Albaani Blog

Salafi-Ikhwaani, Ikhwaani-Salafi? Salafi Aqidah, Ikhwaani Manhaj?

by The Albaani Blog

Questioner: How correct is the saying that so and so is Salafi in aqidah but is on themanhaj of the Ikhwaan [al-Muslimoon]? Is manhaj not part of aqidah? And was this categorization known amongst the Salaf or was there a man who was Salafi in aqidah but not Salafi in manhaj?
Al-Albaani: They are inseparable, Yaa akhi, and it is not possible that he can be anIkhwaani Salafi. But he will be Salafi in some things and Ikhwaani in others, or Ikhwaaniin some and Salafi in others. As for him being a Salafi in accordance with what the Companions of the Messenger عليه السلام were upon for example, then this is something it is impossible to bring together.
The Ikhwaan al-Muslimoon are callers … okay, what do they call to? Do they call to theda’wah of the Salaf as-Saalih? I.e., if we picture an Ikhwaani Salafi, will he be calling to the Salafi da’wah? The answer is no. Thus he is not a Salafi but in one aspect he might be and from another he won’t.
Questioner: [Asking a different question] what’s the difference between …
Shaikh Ubailaan: I called you on the phone…
Al-Albaani: Aah … [i.e., okay]
Shaikh Ubailaan: I asked you ….
Al-Albaani: Yes …
Shaikh Ubailaan: And you said to me, ‘Don’t let those who try to sew together the Salafi manhaj and the Ikhwaani manhaj worry you/be of interest to you.’
Al-Albaani: Yes, by Allaah.
Shaikh Ubailaan: So [in the end such people] never become Salafis or Ikhwaanis!
Al-Albaani: That’s right, Allaahu Akbar.
Questioner: What’s the difference between …

Is Learning Arabic and Speaking it Obligatory on the Student of Knowledge? by 'ilmul'arabiyyah

by Sheikh Albani (May Allah have mercy on him)

Questioner: Is it obligatory on the student of legislated knowledge to learn the Arabic language and speak it?
Al-Albaani: Learning the Arabic language is an obligatory issue due to what is established with the scholars that: those things which an obligatory action cannot be established without are obligatory themselves.  And it is not possible for a student of knowledge to understand the Quraan and the Sunnah except through the Arabic language.
As for speaking it, them that is something recommended [mustahab] due to the lack of a legislated proof  obligating it.

Al-Albaani’s Pride by The Albaani Blog

“I’m proud that Allaah the Mighty and Majestic made it easy for me to be acquainted with the Salaf as-Saalih … their knowledge … their fiqh … their manners … and that I strive to follow in their steps … I take pride in that.”

Be a Man who Recognises Men According to the Truth and not One who Recognises the Truth According to Men by The Albaani Blog

The Imaam said, after having pointed out Imaam at-Tabari was mistaken in some statements:
“I say this, and I am aware of his knowledge and his excellence and his worth–but the worth of the statements of Allaah’s Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم is more significant to me than any man after him.
So be a man who recognises men according to the Truth and not one who recognises the Truth according to men.
And Allaah’s Aid is sought.”

The Explaination of Shaykh Muhammad Ibn Abdul Wahaab (rahimahullah) Kitabul Tawheed by 'ilmul'arabiyyah

By: Shaykh Abdur-Rahman Al-Saadi (rahimahullah)
Chapter 4 - pgs. 43-46
The Fear of Shirk
Shaykh Ibn Abdul Wahaab (rahimahullah) says:
Allah said : "Indeed Allah does not forgive associating partners with Him, and He forgives other than that as He wills." (Surat An-Nisa :48 & 116 ). And Al-Khalil (Ibrahim ('alayhi salaam)) said, "And prevent me and my descendents from worshipping the idols." (Surat Ibrahim 14:35)
And in the hadith; "The thing I fear most for you is the minor shirk." He ('alayhi salaatu wasalaam) was asked what that was, he replied: "Riya' (show)." *
* Footnote: Al-Mundhiri said, "Recorded by Ahmad with a good chain, also by Ibn Abu Al-Dunya and Al-Bayhaqi in Al-Zuhd, and others." Shaykh Al-Albani (rahimahullah) graded the hadith sahih in Sahih Al-Targhib wal-Tarhib, no.#29 (Riyad edition 1409)

Ibn Masood (rady Allahu 'anhu) reported that Allah's Messenger (alayhi salaatu wasalaam) said: "Whoever dies and he is calling upon others along with Allah, he will enter the Fire." Recorded by Al-Bukhari.
Muslim records from Jabir (rady Allahu 'anhu) that Allah's Messenger (alayhi salaatu wasalaam) said: "Whoever meets Allah without having associated anything with Him will enter paradise, and whoever meets Him having associated something with Him will enter the Fire."
Important Points:

1. The fear of shirk.
2. That riya is a form of shirk.
3. That it is a kind of minor shirk.
4. That it is the most dangerous thing for the righteous.
5. The nearness of Paradise and the Fire.
6. Mentioning their nearness in the same hadith.
7. That he who meets Him, without associating anything with Him, enters Paradise; and he who meets Him, while having associated something with Him enters the Fire, even though he may have been the person most prone to worship.
8. The tremendous importance of this issue, such that al-Khalil (Ibrahim (alayhi salaam)) asked that he and his offspring be protected from worshiping idols.
9. His concern for the condition of most people when he said: "Oh my Lord! Indeed they (the idols) have misguided many of the people." (Surat Ibrahim 14:36).
10. The interpretation of La ilaha illa Allah, as mentioned by Al-Bukhari.
11. The virtue of the one who is free of shirk .
Commentary by Shayhk Al-Saadi:

 The Fear of Shirk:

Every instance of shirk in tawheed al-uloohiyah and al-ibadaah negates tawheed. And this shirk is of 2 types: The blatant major shirk, and the subtle minor shirk.
 Major Shirk:

It is to make a rival to Allah that is called upon as Allah is called upon, or to fear him, or hope in him, or love him, as Allah is loved, or to render a type of worship to him. This is the shirk which does not leave it practitioner with any tawheed at all, this is the mushrik that Allah has forbidden from Paradise, and his abode is the Fire.
It doesn't matter whether the worship rendered to other than Allah is called worship or tawassul (seeking nearness to Allah), or even if it is given a name other than these. All of that is major shirk, because what is important is the reality of the thing and its implication, not the word or expression used to describe it.
Minor Shirk:

This is every saying or action which leads to shirk, like aggrandizing creature in a way that does not quite reach the level of worship. Like, for example, making an oath by other than Allah, or behaving for show, etc.
Since shirk negates tawheed and necessitates eternal damnation in the Fire, and when it the major type it makes Paradise unlawful, and since bliss cannot be achieved except by escaping from it, then it is necessary for the worshipper to duly fear it, to hurry in escape from it - its every path, means and cause - and to ask Allah to protect him from it was the habit of the prophets, the purified, and the best of creatures.
The worshiper must struggle to increase and strengthen the sincerity in his heart, and this is done by completely devoting oneself to Allah - being subjugated, repentant, fearful, hopeful, obedient, seeking His satisfaction and rewards in all that he does without neglecting this in any matter, open or hidden. True sincerity inherently repels both major and minor shirk, but whenever a type of shirk is present it will weaken one's sincerity.

Allah said "I did" three times

It has been narrated by Abdul-llah bin Al-'Abbas-Allah is pleased with them-that:

When Allah the exalted revealed{Whatever you show within yourself or conceal it, Allah will bring you to account for it}[Al-Baqarah verse 284] the companions got concerned so the prophet peace is upon him said "say we hear and we believe and we surrounded" and Allah threw the belief in their hearts. Then Allah the exalted revealed{Allah does not
charge a soul except [with that within] its capacity. It will have [the consequence of]
what [good] it has gained, and it will bear [the consequence of] what [evil] it has earned
."Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we have forgotten or erredAllah said "I
did"{Our Lord, and lay not upon us a burden like that which You laid upon those before
usAllah said "I did"{And pardon us; and forgive us; and have mercy upon us. You are
our protector}[Albaqarah verse 286] Allah said "I did"

Sahih Muslim hadeeth no 126

Indeed, our lord does not deserve to be disobeyed.

Does Talking About Allaah’s Names and Attributes Cause The Common Folk to Doubt? by The Albaani Blog

Questioner:
May Allaah reward you with good. Regarding mentioning [Allaah’s] Names and Attributes, some people say that the callers to Allaah must not speak about this issue in front of the common masses and riffraff, because delving into such things leads to placing doubt in them, so how true is this statement?
Al-Albaani:
We say to these people: then you [find and] speak about something in front of the common folk which is better than that, you speak about something which is better than that.
And if talking about that does not impress you then you have to speak about something which does other than that, and if you can’t [find something better than Allaah’s Names and Attributes to talk about]–and you won’t be able to–then you will hear what will not please you and this is the thing that doesn’t please you, [but] what is important is that it pleases your Lord. And this is what has reached us from the Salaf’s knowledge and what we hold as religion before Allaah.
And the common folk, as I said to you just now, are upon the natural inborn inclination [that Allaah created man on, al-fitrah], when it is said to them that, ‘[Allaah is] not above, and not below …’ [as the deviant sects say when explaining Allaah’s Names and Attributes] their hearts disapprove of that, but when it is said to them that, ‘Allaah is above all of His creation and there is no created thing above Him,’ [as is the aqidah of the Salaf], then this is what goes with the sound inborn inclination [that Allaah created them on], ... the fitrah of Allaah which He has created [all] people upon.” [Rum 30:30].

Difference Between The Believer And The One Who Turns Away From Eemaan

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
Shaykhul-Islaam Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah (may Allaah have mercy upon him) stated:
"Whoever believes in the messengers and obeys them, their enemies display enmity towards him and harm him. Therefore he (the believer) is tested by that which hurts him. If the person doesn't believe in them and he doesn't obeys them, he is punished in the life of this world and in the hereafter. Therefore that which hurts him comes about. And that which hurts him is the greatest of pain and more lasting than the pain that befalls the followers of the Messengers. Therefore its a must that that one goes through hardship/pain whether you believe or turn away from Eemaan.  However (the difference is that) the believer experiences pain in the life of this world to start, then he will have a good ending in the life of this world and in the hereafter. As for the one who turned away from Eemaan, he will experience delight to start with then he will proceed on to the everlasting punishment."
